Accredited - Level 2 Counselling Skills
The versatility of this course appeals to a wide range of potential learners and the target market includes those who are considering embarking on formal counselling training as an intended career change or as an additional skill to enhance their existing job.
PURPOSE AND AIMS OF THE COURSE
The purpose of the unit is to introduce the use of counselling skills in everyday life and at work. The course allows leaners to develop counselling skills using approaches such as Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic. This is a great course for self development and essential if going onto level 3.
This training event will provide you with an opportunity to:
1. Understand the concept of confidentiality.
1.1. Explain the importance of confidentiality within the context of counselling.
2. Understand the difference between counselling and advice giving.
2.1. Give two examples of: (a) counselling; (b) giving advice.
2.2. Describe different forms of communication related to counselling.
3. Know how to evaluate own self- development.
3.1. Evaluate own self-development.
4. Know verbal communication skills which facilitate open interaction.
4.1. Explain the use of the following verbal communication skills:
(a) reflecting back;
(c) open questions;
5. Know about the provision of structured feedback.
5.1. Identify skills required to enable the provision of structured feedback.
6. Understand different views, values and perceptions.
6.1. Describe examples of different:
As part of the course, you will be working towards self-awareness and have an opportunity to reflect on your personal and future development, helping you identify any potential need for support. It is good practice to understand yourself better in order to help others achieve more.

JANUARY 2020 - THURSDAY EVENINGS - 9 Weeks - from 6:30pm until 9:00pm
Start Date: 9th January 2020 - End Date: 12th March 2020.
Please note there is a break for school holidays on 20th February.
JANUARY 2020 - SATURDAY DAYTIME - 4 Weeks - from 9:00pm until 5:00pm
Start Date: 18th January 2020 - End Date: 8th February 2020.

Awarding Body & Unit Level
Our course is ran and governed by One Awards (part of the NOCN group). You will be awarded a fully accredited Level 2 in Counselling Skills certificate on successful completion of the course.
£325 -Payments can be made in full or by means of a deposit then three instalments.
