MY BACKGROUND

I originally started as a active listeners for Age UK which sparked my intrest in listening services and after a year with them. I then started my journy to become a qualified counsellor 2013 after undergoing a degree in counselling at Sunderland University. A childrens mental health charity called Place2be offered me my first client work with Primary school children which mainly revolved around one to one counselling and also at Derwentside Mind. I remained with Place2be and Mind as a volunteer counsellor for 1 years before starting a role as a school counsellor. This role involved one to one counselling, group counselling and assisting trainee counsellors in placements in my assigned schools.

WHAT I DO NOW

Alongside working in a small private practise I currently  work for Next Step Wellbeing three days a week in three different schools as well as delivering a number of different training courses for Next Step Wellbeing. heTservice I run in the school's which mainly involves offering one to one counselling to primary school children and supporting thier families and school staff. This also involves group work, class work, whole school assemblies on mental health and lunch time drop ins.  As lead counsellor in one of my schools i also support and supervise three volunteer counsellor allowing us to offer our service to more children. I also work as an affliated counsellor and supervisor for Next Step Wellbening in the Monksteaton office as pivate counselling work is something i have recently started to offer and hope to expand in the future.
